Sr. Enterprise File Transmissions Engineer (IBM Sterling) - REMOTE

About the role

The Senior Enterprise File Transmissions Engineer at Velera will lead the design, delivery, operation, and maintenance of file transfer systems and related infrastructure. This role involves working closely with various stakeholders to ensure efficient data flow and providing tier 3 support for managed file transfer systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and implement integration solutions using IBM MFT Suite (Sterling File Gateway, Sterling B2B Integrator, Sterling Secure+, Sterling Control Center)
• Configure standard file transmission solutions for assigned file transmission requests
• Securely exchange data according to corporate and industry standards
• Verify completion of automated file transfers and maintain file transfer documentation
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to file movements and data movement solutions
• Support data movement processes, including ETL, query, and data validation
• Develop strategies to support the department's success in achieving the overall goal
• Provide consultation on analytic capabilities and enterprise integrated data assets
• Assess existing automation frameworks and recommend improvements
• Communicate with technical and non-technical customers and manage file transfer workflows

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related field or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of systems development, testing, and/or business experience with data transfer tools, specifically IBM Sterling File Transfer products
• 8+ years of hands-on experience with BPML and shell/Python/Powershell scripting
• 5+ years of experience with other MFT platforms such as Go Anywhere or Globalscape
• Proficient in building services, adapters, and configuring property files for file transfer solutions
• Experience with file transfer protocols such as SSH/SFTP, FTPS, HTTPS, AS2, Connect Direct
• Experience establishing Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and availability goals
• Expertise in installing and maintaining clustered environments for high availability
• Expertise in Windows platforms and writing command scripts
• Expertise in building out-of-the-box reports and custom reports on IBM Control Center and Sterling File Gateway/Sterling Integrator

• Works with business lines to troubleshoot and remediate issues related to file movements
• Communicates with technical and non-technical customers, including multiple levels of management
• Consults with business partners to analyze and understand file transfer requests
• Provides tier 3 support for managed file transfer systems and processes

• Strong knowledge of IBM Sterling File Transfer products
• Experience with BPML and scripting languages
• Proficiency in file transfer protocols
• Ability to establish and maintain SLAs
• Expertise in Windows platforms and scripting
• Experience with IBM Control Center and Sterling File Gateway/Sterling Integrator
