Job Summary
The Senior Civil Engineering Technician supports civil engineering efforts within the Mission Critical Solution, focusing on infrastructure that protects national security and supports high-consequence federal missions. This role involves applying advanced civil engineering knowledge to create and modify site development plans, grading designs, and utility layouts, using industry-standard tools like Autodesk Civil 3D.
Key Responsibilities
- Establishes and communicates appropriate design and graphic standards
- Reviews project requirements to determine correct formats and deliverable content
- Promotes quality and consistency across projects, groups, and sections
- Reviews design inputs to ensure alignment and consistency
- Ensures deliverables comply with applicable codes and standards
- Contributes to continuous improvement of design guides, standards, and processes
- Participates and leads process improvement and change management activities
- Manages drawing control and maintains historical project records
- Applies engineering principles and established design practices to complex designs
- Exercises sound judgment in interpreting inputs and making deliverable-related decisions
- Handles complex technical assignments and provides guidance to other professionals
- Performs design calculations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, and documentation
- Reviews deliverables produced by others for quality and accuracy
- Coordinates with other design groups to exchange information for design development
- Supports field activities as required
- Communicates project design requirements, progress, and schedules
- Assists with identification of key client interests and drivers
- Communicates client interests and drivers to project team members
- Affirms training and development needs for supervised personnel
- Makes presentations and conducts training classes within a specialized area of expertise
