Sr Engineering Technician

About the role
Working with Engineering, Operations Support, and other departments, the Advanced Engineering Technician supports engineering activities including design, test, check-out, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electro-mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, laser/light transmission devices, or specialized test equipment.
Responsibilities
- Interpret basic engineering drawings, diagrams, and schematics
- Construct, modify, debug, troubleshoot, calibrate, test, and adjust a variety of tools, equipment, and systems
- Conduct, analyze, and document statistically based experiments to define process parameters
- Implement and document complex solutions for process improvement
- Design and construct basic tooling and fixtures to accomplish unique tasks
- Organize, analyze, and interpret data to identify cause/effect relationships and recommend resolution or process improvement
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience (minimum 1 year required; 3+ years preferred)
- Department of Defense Secret security clearance required at time of hire (U.S. citizenship is required)
- Solid knowledge and proficiency in the use of fabrication tools
- Ability to fabricate complex hardware
- Solid knowledge of generally accepted technical theory
Preferred Skills
- Review technical documentation, wiring diagrams, schematics, and interface diagrams to install and test shipboard equipment
- Load software using technical documentation
- Understand systems interfacing for testing and troubleshooting
- Use hand tools and electronic test equipment
- Build and test cables/connectors used in a marine environment
- Work in a shipyard environment, including confined spaces
- Lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds
- Work in a team or individual setting
- Work in settings requiring prolonged standing, sitting, or kneeling
- Own tools (preferred but not required)
- Travel up to 50% may be required
- Combat Systems experience (preferred but not required)
- Secret Clearance (preferred or ability to obtain in a reasonable timeframe)

Pay
Target salary range: USD $28.52/Hr. - USD $30.59/Hr. This estimate represents the typical salary range based on experience and geographic location.
