About the role
We develop designs, layouts, construction drawings, and a bill of material for large projects and complex systems involving the installation/removal/modification of utility infrastructure on Exelon's electric generation, transmission, distribution, gas and telecommunication facilities/systems. This may include activities associated with customer contact, scheduling, engineering and construction of New Business installations, removals and relocations.
Responsibilities
- Develops designs, layouts, construction drawings, and a bill of material for large projects and complex systems involving the installation/removal/modification of utility infrastructure on Exelon's electric generation, transmission, distribution, gas and telecommunication facilities/systems.
- Interprets and applies engineering standards and memos.
- Assists with technical consultation, plan developments and recommendations for customer and company systems and processes; verifies and validates studies, blueprints, or designs against accepted engineering principles and practices.
- Evaluates effectiveness of current design processes.
- Participates on teams; designs high voltage transmission and distribution circuits, meeting all engineering standards and criteria.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in a technical field and 3 or more years of technical experience, an associate's degree in a technical field and 5 or more years of technical experience, or 7 or more years of technical experience or relevant education if non-degreed or a non-technical degree.
- Successful completion of the Technician Occupations Selection Systems (TECH) test (a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university exempts the TECH Test requirement).
- Ability to analyze and interpret electrical and mechanical systems.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
- Knowledge and ability to apply problem-solving approaches.
- Broad knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform routine assignments for a specific discipline installation, or service.
- Proficient Computer Drawing and Computer Assisted Design skills.
- Valid driver's license.
Qualifications
- Relevant education/experience: Knowledge and/or skills that may be acquired through job experiences or education programs similar to a formal technical degree program.
- Relevant experience: Experience in a military role (transmission, distribution, gas, power systems, etc.), project management, journey-level electrician or gas technician, field operations, or other utility related experience, as deemed relevant to the role.
- Relevant educational experience: Company sponsored training programs (ex. PowerUp Academy) or other educational programs, as deemed relevant to the role.
