Responsibilities
- Lead the structural design and review of power generation facilities including Combined Cycle, Simple Cycle, Renewable Integration, Energy Storage, and Industrial Process Plants.
- Design and review of reinforced concrete, structural steel, deep foundations, equipment foundations, containment structures, pipe racks, utility racks, and auxiliary plant structures.
- Serve as Project Structural Engineer (PSE) or Discipline Lead on medium to large multidisciplinary projects.
- Provide technical oversight for structural deliverables, interdisciplinary coordination, constructability reviews, and engineering quality reviews.
- Proactively provide guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes, and B&V policies.
- Own, maintain, update, or develop engineering standards and guides.
- Provide technical guidance to others regarding projects or disciplines.
- Apply knowledge and ensure compliance with B&V quality program; establish related processes and promote a culture conducive to quality.
- Support continuous improvement, change management, and risk management efforts.
- Prepare a variety of complex engineering deliverables for multiple or mega projects.
- Perform complex research and develop recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
- Oversee collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work.
- Prepare complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.
- Manage assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Develop and apply advanced engineering solutions to complex problems.
- Ensure project teams delegate appropriate tasks to lower-level team members to develop depth of project execution staff.
- Review lower-level engineering work or assignments.
- Lead production teams, coordinate multiple discipline activities, and serve as the responsible charge for projects.
- Establish work plans to be applied to a given project.
- Actively coordinate with all other internal/external team members on complex projects.
- Define project schedules for single or multiple disciplines.
- Identify key client interests and drivers on projects; communicate these to the project team and develop approaches to accommodate them.
- Identify future client needs and position B&V for future opportunities.
- Support business development or pursuit activities.
- Serve as the technical specialist in a broad or narrow specialized field.
- Develop and apply advanced engineering concepts and approaches to unique engineering problems.
- Support multiple projects on very complex technical challenges; act as an industry expert by participating in professional societies and presenting papers.
- Support chief engineers or top engineering management; be accountable for discipline-specific engineering processes.
- Oversee performance management, career planning, recognition, learning and development, and corrective actions.
- Participate in compensation management, succession planning, disciplinary actions, employee relations, and workforce planning.
- Actively mentor lower-level and mid-level professionals and identify successors for role-specific training.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- 15–25 years of structural engineering experience with emphasis on power generation, industrial, oil & gas, energy transition, or process facilities.
- Experience as Lead Structural Engineer, Project Structural Engineer (PSE), Discipline Lead, or Responsible Engineer.
- Experience in GTG, HRSG, STG, transformer, reactor, compressor, and heavy equipment foundation design.
- Experience in seismic and wind design using ASCE 7, IBC, Eurocode, ACI, and related international standards.
- Experience reviewing Owner's Engineer documentation, EPC deliverables, and vendor structural calculations.
- Experience coordinating global engineering execution teams and multidisciplinary project interfaces.
- Experience serving as Lead Structural Engineer or Project Structural Engineer for Combined Cycle Power Plants, Industrial Facilities, or Energy Infrastructure Projects.
Software and Codes Knowledge
- Advanced proficiency in STAAD.Pro and RISA-3D.
- Working knowledge of SAFE, MAT3D, spMats, MathCAD, or equivalent structural engineering software.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, MicroStation, ProjectWise, Bluebeam, and BIM workflows.
- Strong knowledge of ACI 318, ACI 350, AISC, ASCE 7, IBC, Eurocodes, and IS Codes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program in the home country or the country of practice.
- Minimum of 11 years of related work experience.
