About the Role
UST is searching for a Sr Engineer responsible for designing, developing, and sustaining automated testing solutions that ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of software systems throughout the development and sustainment lifecycle.
Opportunity
- Design, develop, and maintain automation systems and tools to be used by development and test engineers.
- Analyze code coverage using industry-standard tools (e.g., SonarQube).
- Oversee integration of automated tests into the Continuous Delivery pipeline.
- Design and author test cases for unit, functional, performance, scalability, and durability testing.
- Design, build, and operate AI agents that automate software engineering testing tasks such as generating boilerplate code for new microservices, creating unit and API tests, analyzing logs, triaging incidents, and supporting CI/CD pipelines.
- Manage and groom automated and manual test suites for balanced coverage and fast feedback cycles.
- Work with IT partner teams to provide, create, or modify test data through repeatable, automated processes.
- Provide internal training on testing skills and tools; contribute to the Test Community of Practice to evolve testing practices and standards.
- Lead defect management and interface with external teams on test strategy and execution.
- Ensure requirements and/or user stories are testable and provide estimates for user stories and tasks.
- Coordinate with Dev and Ops regarding testing practices to ensure quality thresholds are met.
- Contribute to design and code reviews.
What You Need (Must-Have Skills)
- Bachelor's degree in software engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
- 5–7 years of experience using Java, JavaScript.
- 5–7 years of experience using any two Monitoring or Observability Tools - Splunk, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, or others.
- 5–7 years of experience with three or more automation tools (e.g., Karate, Selenium, TestNG, Cucumber, Rest Assured, Postman).
- 5–7 years of experience with testing methodologies such as Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior Driven Development (BDD), API Testing, Acceptance Testing, end to end testing.
- 5–7 years of experience using issue-tracking software and Agile project management systems (JIRA).
- Strong Proficiency with SQL (querying, joins, stored procedures) and testing databases (Oracle, Snowflake).
- Hands-on experience with AI productivity tools (Claude and Cursor or similar IDE) and working knowledge of foundation models, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and AI agent development.
Nice to Have
- Good experience working in cloud native environments.
- Good experience testing third party tools such as One Trust.
- Working knowledge using CA Service Virtualization or equivalent.
- Experience with AI to build and execute automated test cases and improve productivity.
Pay
Role Location: Texas. Compensation Range: $68,000–$102,000.
