Sr. Project Engineer, SDS
Accountabilities
The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for overseeing the technical execution of healthcare technology projects, ensuring solutions are designed, deployed, integrated, and supported according to customer and organizational requirements. The role requires ownership of technical delivery, infrastructure planning, documentation, and collaboration with internal and external teams.
Act as the lead technical resource for medical informatics implementation projects, supporting delivery from validation phases through deployment and go-live.
Partner with project management teams to deliver high-quality solutions while maintaining project timelines, technical standards, and customer satisfaction.
Design, configure, and deploy third-party hardware and software infrastructure, including virtualization, storage, backup, and disaster recovery environments.
Plan and implement healthcare imaging solutions, including radiology, cardiology, enterprise imaging, mobility, 3D visualization, and vendor-neutral archive platforms.
Manage existing customer projects involving infrastructure upgrades, hardware refreshes, data migrations, architecture updates, and system redeployments.
Integrate healthcare solutions with third-party systems such as electronic medical records, dictation platforms, Citrix environments, and enterprise imaging systems.
Develop detailed technical documentation, including customer solution designs, implementation records, and best-practice guides.
Maintain expertise in evolving technologies and participate in subject matter expert initiatives to support continuous improvement.
Apply quality, regulatory, and compliance requirements while ensuring all project activities align with healthcare industry standards.
Support customer relationships through clear communication, technical guidance, troubleshooting, and solution optimization.
Requirements
- Extensive healthcare IT experience
- Strong infrastructure expertise
- Ability to operate effectively in complex clinical environments
- 5+ years of experience working in healthcare information technology environments
- 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting Microsoft Windows Server and desktop operating systems in technical roles
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent advanced technical experience within hospital, radiology, cardiology, or healthcare IT environments
- Strong understanding of PACS and clinical information systems, including workflows supporting radiology, cardiology, and related services
- Advanced skills in systems architecture, design, configuration, administration, and troubleshooting
- Expert-level knowledge of VMware vSphere technologies, including ESXi and Site Recovery Manager
- Strong experience designing, deploying, and troubleshooting storage infrastructures, including Fibre Channel, NFS, CIFS, DAS, and disk array solutions
- Knowledge of business continuity, backup, and disaster recovery implementation
- Understanding of healthcare data exchange standards and protocols, including DICOM, HL7, and XML
- Familiarity with network design, security principles, and enterprise infrastructure environments
- Excellent organizational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical teams, project managers, customers, and healthcare stakeholders
- Ability to travel occasionally, up to approximately 25%, based on business needs.
