Sr Engineer

About the role

Lead new material development and cross-functional teams for Canon Virginia’s technical HQ. Canon Virginia, Inc. serves as Canon’s only manufacturing, engineering, recycling and technical support center in the Americas region. CVI produces new products using advanced manufacturing methodologies while also serving as a factory service center providing expert customer service in the repair and refurbishment of Canon products.

Responsibilities

• Support new material development by researching and developing new materials, components/assemblies, methods, and/or processes utilizing engineering and scientific principles.
• Lead interdisciplinary engineering/scientific teams in the development, formulation, design, and build of new materials that meet project objectives for quality, cost and delivery.
• Lead project and product risk analysis efforts.
• Generate and advise other team members on intellectual property protection.
• Assist with creating product/process specifications and requirements.
• Perform thorough experiments and evaluations to aid down-selection of concepts to achieve integrated concepts.
• Troubleshoot more complex technical issues; investigate issues, identify root cause and develop countermeasures to prevent future occurrence.
• Prepare proposals (including recommended suppliers, parts pricing, alternative implementation strategies, and timeline/schedule) for submission to customer.
• Provide guidance and answer technical questions during proposal meetings.
• Review technical reports prepared by less experienced Engineers/Scientists and provide feedback.
• Lead design reviews and offer suggestions and guidance for design/process improvements.
• Oversee various projects ensuring adherence to schedule, regulatory requirements, and meeting customer satisfaction.
• Approve and offer guidance to process/product changes and risk analysis.
• Provide guidance/mentorship to less experienced Engineers/Scientists regarding process/product/or system.
• Act as subject matter expert in multiple processes and/or products.
• Advise on MOIs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent Engineering degree.
• 8–12 years’ experience in research and development, product development, medical or related field.

Skills

• Excellent analytical, problem solving, and project management skills.
• Ability to create and present presentations and/or technical papers to upper management, customers, external scientific publications and/or at conferences.
• Ability to lead in a project team environment.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $96,720 – $121,900; FLSA: Exempt.
