Sr Electrical Technician
About the role
The Electronics Technician performs technical work in the maintenance, repair, calibration and installation of various electronic equipment. Distributes and maintains laboratory test equipment for engineers; ensures efficient operation of laboratory environment; and arranges for repair and calibration of major equipment.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair electronic device board circuitry. Failure investigation to component level
- Provide manufacturing test support, troubleshooting, fault isolation and corrective actions
- Create test reports for functional and performance testing of electronics products
- Support product testing during integration, functional, design verification, performance and qualification testing phases
- Install components, units and printed circuit boards following specifications
- Fabricate parts, cables, and test fixtures
- Maintain all work related equipment, passive load, test fixtures, etc.
- Maintain and write work procedures and all related documentation for each task performed
- Customize units and make adjustments or repairs according to written specifications
- Order and maintain inventory of replacement parts for electronic test equipment; maintain warranty, service and repair records; work with vendors to obtain pricing and availability of needed parts; perform quality checks on newly delivered equipment to ensure proper operation
- Create ADCNs for minor electronics assembly rework instructions per IPC standards
- Create engineering test and status reports
- Interface with customers/supplier as needed to support troubleshooting the electronics assembly
Requirements
Strongly Preferred Skills:
- IPC Certification
- High Voltage equipment (5 kW up to 45 kVA)
- Reworking PCBs / PCB Rework (soldering & desoldering components on PCB / PCBAs)
Nice-to-have Skills
- Hands on experience of using electronics equipment such as programmable power supplies, high speed digital oscilloscopes, logic analyzers etc.
- Understanding & testing knowledge of serial communication hardware
Qualifications
- Building and setting up Test Boxes / Breakout Boxes
- Strong work ethic, and commitment to excellence
- Ability to communicate, ability to work in a team environment
Work Environment
This position is fully onsite in a large production facility with engineering and the electronics lab located upstairs. Team members typically arrive between 6:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., with flexibility to arrive and leave as needed, provided they work approximately eight hours each day. The culture emphasizes long-term engagement, with many individuals remaining for multiple contract extensions and a strong likelihood of transitioning to a direct role over time, as well as opportunities to move into various engineering disciplines.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $55.00/hr.
