Sr Electrical Project Engineer

About the role

HGA is an award-winning architecture, engineering, and planning firm that designs high-performance, forward-thinking environments across various building types. We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Project Engineer to join our team in Milwaukee, WI or Minneapolis, MN.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of electrical engineers, designers, and BIM specialists.
• Write scopes of work for electrical design based on preliminary review and meetings with the client.
• Prepare workplans for design teams based on project scope and team member skillsets.
• Assess the requirements of a project, break it into tasks, and work with the design team to determine scope, budget, and staffing.
• Prepare engineering opinions of probable cost for electrical systems and review contractor cost estimates.
• Be skilled in electrical design, collaborate with owners to define Owner’s project requirements, conduct building load calculations, analyze power distribution, size equipment, and edit specifications.
• Prepare engineering studies and schematic design for new systems and analyze operation of existing systems.
• Present complex engineering analysis clearly and effectively to owners and design teams.
• Review drawings and documents to ensure compliance with company design and production standards.
• Work with the building performance team to design and integrate alternative energy sources into the electrical distribution to create sustainable designs.
• Absorb oversight, guidance, and direction of a team responsible for Revit production.
• Absorb the education and development of design staff and function as a resource for questions.

Requirements

• BS or MS degree in electrical engineering.
• 15+ years of experience in the design of power systems for healthcare, commercial, cultural, government, industrial, higher education, and campus energy system projects.
• Professional licensure is required.
• Documented experience with a consulting engineering firm or A/E firm providing electrical design.
• Expertise in National Fire Protection Association Codes (NFPA) and an understanding of applicable (city, state, federal) codes is essential.
• Working knowledge of Revit.
• Familiarity with electrical analysis software (i.e. SKM, Easy Power, Helioscope) and knowledge of current sustainable technologies applicable to the design of commercial electrical systems.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $132,000 - $161,200, depending on qualifications and experience. Eligible employees are eligible to participate in HGA's robust benefit programs.
