About the role

This role is part of Advanced Concepts and Enterprise Engineering (ACE), supporting Blue Origin’s mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. The team fosters innovation and drives engineering workflows of the future, shared solutions and standards, simplicity and lower costs, and manufacturable design.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers to deliver avionics hardware subsystem elements, including common circuit blocks and development kits.
  • Design, develop, and verify high-performance avionics hardware for incorporation in various flight vehicles.
  • Drive requirements definition, modeling, analysis, design, fabrication, and test of flight and power management components and subsystems elements.
  • Design electronic requirements, architecture concepts, detailed design, development, and test.
  • Work with programs' technical leads to drive requirements definition, modeling, analysis, design, fabrication, and test of flight and power management components and subsystems elements.
  • Design and develop high-speed digital, analog, and mixed-signal circuits, perform circuit analysis and simulation, and troubleshoot.
  • Develop battery-based power systems, including power management, power switching, charging, and battery safety.
  • Design computer command and I/O control systems for sophisticated industrial systems or vehicles.
  • Design RF communication subsystems and components, with a strong background in RF principles.
  • Design data acquisition systems and familiarize with a variety of sensor technologies.
  • Develop sophisticated circuit cards, consumer electronics, wireless devices, or other advanced electronic commercial or aerospace products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field
  • 10+ proven years experience in the design of complex hardware
  • Skilled Altium user
  • High-speed digital, analog, and/or mixed-signal circuit design, build, and troubleshooting, with a strong understanding of EE principles
  • Circuit analysis and simulation, such as worst-case circuit analysis, signal integrity analysis, and logic or Spice simulation
  • Grounding and general board layout principles, including EMI/EMC tradeoffs
  • Battery-based power systems, including power management, power switching, charging, and battery safety
  • Computer command and I/O control for sophisticated industrial systems or vehicles
  • RF communication subsystem and/or component design, with a strong background in RF principles
  • Design of Data Acquisition Systems and familiarity with a variety of sensor technologies
  • Background developing sophisticated circuit cards, consumer electronics, wireless devices, or other advanced electronic commercial or aerospace products

Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of EE principles
  • Proficiency in Altium
  • Experience with high-speed digital, analog, and mixed-signal circuit design
  • Expertise in circuit analysis and simulation
  • Knowledge of grounding and board layout principles
  • Experience with battery-based power systems
  • Experience with computer command and I/O control systems
  • Experience with RF communication subsystems and components
  • Experience with data acquisition systems and sensor technologies
  • Experience developing sophisticated circuit cards, consumer electronics, wireless devices, or other advanced electronic commercial or aerospace products
