Sr Electrical Engineer
About the role
AECOM is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team in Dallas or Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will support the expansion of our knowledge base with the ability to travel and gain field experience. Projects span various sectors including Aviation, Commercial, Federal (Military/DoD), Healthcare, Higher Education, Rail Transit, Sports + Rec, and Science + Tech.
Responsibilities
- Supports electrical engineering from conceptual design through construction administration and post-occupancy.
- Performs specific and moderate portions of broader assignments under supervision.
- Reviews shop drawings during construction administration phase.
- Works cooperatively with managers and other employees to achieve company’s mission.
- Stays current on codes and technologies relevant to the electrical discipline.
- Supports site visits for data collection and evaluation of electrical systems, equipment, components, and materials.
- Prepares design drawings and documents, technical specifications, calculations, and studies for electrical facility designs.
- Produces one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, conduit and cable sizing/routing, and equipment selection.
- Coordinates design and schedule with other disciplines such as architectural, structural, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers.
- Performs engineering-related calculations and develops drawings and visual aids.
- Maintains accurate project documentation and design data for permanent project files.
- Performs work in accordance with agreed-upon budget and schedule under supervision.
- Utilizes software to perform lighting calculations.
- Analyzes problems, writes reports and memos for internal and external purposes based on findings.
- Conducts site investigations and walk-downs of project sites.
- Mentors/trains junior staff members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- PE license or the ability to obtain within 1 year of hiring date.
- Experience with electrical power and lighting designs for projects of all sizes, utilizing electrical design software.
- Proficiency with Revit to produce project deliverables.
- Strong communication skills: articulate, assertive, and confident.
- Creative thinker with effective teamwork skills.
- Desire to be mentored by leadership.
- Experience with sustainable design.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy/quality of work.
- Experience in Electrical Power Calculation Software.
- Experienced in application of National Electrical Code.
- Ability to switch between work on multiple/different projects daily.
- Working knowledge of NFPA, ISA, IEEE Regulatory Codes.
- Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing, and standard Microsoft software.
- Experience working with and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team.
- Able to travel as needed to client office locations and project locations for site visits and design & inspection projects.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $130000 to $165000 per year.
