About the role

Amazon Web Services is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join a global engineering team responsible for designing and innovating the company's expanding data center footprint. Engineers at Amazon work to design resilient, cost-effective electrical distribution systems, ensuring world-class uptime for customers. The role involves working on multi-million dollar designs supporting various businesses and customers, driving continuous advancements, and collaborating with other disciplines to create construction documents.

Responsibilities

  • Data center electrical designs and collaboration with other disciplines to create a construction document set.
  • Create designs meeting or exceeding quality and budgetary requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal requirements and building codes.
  • Review and approve equipment submittals.
  • Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests during construction phases.
  • Work with commissioning teams to test and validate electrical systems.
  • Manage concurrent projects across multiple geographical regions.
  • Support onsite field engineers, conduct electrical systems audits, and assist with startup activities.
  • Offer creative, out-of-the-box solutions and contribute to a fun, collaborative work environment.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience.
  • 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities, including data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance.
  • Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities, including data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
  • Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineering or Architectural License.
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
  • Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
