Sr. Electrical Design Engineer, Data Center Design Engineering

About the role

Amazon Web Services is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join a global engineering team responsible for designing and innovating our expanding data center footprint. Engineers work on resilient, cost-effective electrical distribution systems to achieve world-class uptime for customers.

Responsibilities

• Create multi-million dollar designs supporting various businesses and customers.
• Work with local agencies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal requirements and building codes.
• Review and approve equipment submittals, define project scope, and provide technical support.
• Support construction phases, commissioning teams, and startup processes.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to create construction document sets.
• Work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
• Provide engineering evaluations, perform electrical systems audits, and offer creative solutions.

Requirements

• 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience.
• 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities such as data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance.
• Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities such as data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineering or Architectural License.
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment.
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.

Skills

• Ability to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with electrical design software.
• Understanding of international electrical design requirements.

Pay

Base salary range: $136,600.00 - $184,800.00 USD annually

Schedule

Travel requirement: Up to 20% of time, primarily for site reviews and in-person collaboration efforts.
