Sr. EH&S Specialist

About the role

The Senior Environmental Health and Safety Specialist develops and implements EH&S policies, procedures, and training, ensuring organizational compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations. Duties include providing training, conducting inspections and assessments, reviewing training programs and policies, researching regulatory requirements, and managing hazardous waste. This role may require attaining and maintaining professional certifications and completing continuing training.

Responsibilities

• Review and develop company EH&S policies and procedures.
• Understand and abide by all company policies and procedures.
• Research and interpret applicable EH&S regulatory requirements (e.g., Cal/OSHA, DOT, EPA, DTSC, and other federal, state, and local agencies).
• Support manufacturing and operations teams as an information resource.
• Conduct industrial hygiene sampling and exposure analyses.
• Conduct injury, incident, and near-miss investigations.
• Perform injury/incident trend analyses.
• Implement and enforce company EH&S programs, policies, and procedures.
• Conduct job hazard analyses and area hazard analyses.
• Support test hazard analyses.
• Conduct building and area inspections.
• Provide training and safety meetings to manufacturing and operations teams.
• Interface with inspectors and regulatory agencies as directed.

Qualifications

• Computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Extensive experience researching and interpreting regulations (e.g., Cal/OSHA, EPA, DOT, Fire Code).
• Experience developing written programs and company policy.
• Strong basic mathematical skills.
• Ability to stand or walk 50% of the day or more.
• Safety or environmental certifications are a plus.

Education & Experience

Associate degree or higher in an EH&S-related field and 8+ years of work experience, or 10+ years of work experience in the EH&S field.

Pay

$47.00–$61.88 hourly. Eligible for up to 10% annual bonus.

Work Environment

This position is located in Mojave, CA. Base salary and leveling are established on a case-by-case basis, considering factors such as location, educational background, and skills demonstrated during interviews. The role may involve operating company vehicles as part of assigned duties.

Mojave Air & Spaceport is located just outside Lancaster/Palmdale, 95 miles north of Los Angeles. The area offers affordability and central access to California’s attractions, including theme parks, cities, outdoor activities, and culinary experiences.
