Sr. Director, Revenue Accounting & OTC Operations
LaunchDarkly is seeking a strategic, hands-on revenue accounting leader to oversee our global revenue accounting and Order-to-Cash (OTC) operations. In this role, you will partner with GTM, Legal, Deal Desk, and Product teams to define the strategy and operating model for quoting, contracting, and revenue recognition, ensuring scalable growth, reduced friction, and strong revenue quality. You will lead order management, billings, collections, revenue and commissions accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls while serving as the company’s subject-matter expert on U.S. GAAP and ASC 606.
Responsibilities
- Lead the global revenue accounting and OTC operations, shaping the controllership roadmap to support company growth and operational maturity.
- Own the accounting for all revenue streams and commissions, including the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process to ensure timely and accurate financial results.
- Serve as the company’s subject-matter expert on revenue recognition, providing technical guidance to executive leadership and GTM business partners.
- Collaborate with Data and FP&A teams on metrics reporting (ARR, NNARR, ACV) and forecasting assumptions affecting revenue accounting.
- Partner with GTM, Deal Management, Legal, and Product teams to define scalable contract structures and approval processes with strong governance and business-oriented flexibility.
- Strengthen internal controls, including SOX readiness, process documentation, control design, and remediation efforts.
- Manage the annual external audit for revenue-related areas, ensuring efficient execution and high-quality deliverables.
- Design and execute scalable OTC workflows and system processes to improve accuracy, reduce manual effort, and support high-growth SaaS operations.
- Partner with Technology teams on ERP and system enhancements, integrations, and reporting improvements.
- Develop management reporting and KPIs for the revenue accounting organization to enhance visibility into efficiency, quality, and operational capacity.
- Mentor, develop, and retain a high-performing accounting team, fostering clear accountability and a culture of operational excellence.
- Act as a trusted partner to leadership, balancing strong governance with practical, business-oriented problem-solving.
Qualifications
- 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Big 4 public accounting and industry leadership in a multi-entity, public-company SOX environment.
- Hands-on systems experience improving ERP workflows, reporting, and automation (NetSuite, CPQ, SFDC, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, ASC 606, revenue cycle operations, internal controls, close processes, and financial reporting.
- Proven success leading teams through scale, process improvement, and organizational change.
- Experience building and improving OTC operations in a fast-paced SaaS or technology company.
- Track record of driving process transformation through automation, data, and AI-enabled solutions.
- Ability to partner cross-functionally and influence outcomes across Finance, Product, Legal, Sales, and executive leadership without direct authority.
- Strong executive presence, sound judgment, and clear communication with senior leaders and auditors.
- Ability to balance strategic leadership with detailed execution and high ownership.
Pay
Target pay ranges based on geographic zones for this role (Level 5):
- Zone 1 (San Francisco/Bay Area, NYC Metropolitan Area, Boston, Seattle): $214,800 – $295,350
- Zone 2 (Irvine, LA, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Santa Rosa, Austin, Portland, Philadelphia, Chicago): $193,400 – $265,870
- Zone 3 (All other U.S. locations): $182,600 – $251,020
All zones include a 20% bonus target. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
