Sr. Director of Ophthalmic Services
The Sr. Director of Ophthalmic Services at UCHealth is a visionary leader responsible for overseeing all operational and strategic aspects of the Eye Centers. This role ensures that the Eye Centers deliver exceptional patient care, maintain the highest standards of clinical excellence, and achieve organizational goals while fostering growth and innovation in ophthalmology services across UCHealth. We are actively planning for additional clinics and have a forward-looking vision to expand our reach with more locations in the future.
Reporting Relationships
Reports to: Vice President, Ambulatory Operations of the University of Colorado Hospital
Accountable to: Chair, Department of Ophthalmology at the CU School of Medicine
Specific Responsibilities
Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.
Recommends improvements to clinical and related physician business operational policies and procedures.
Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding.
Captures and coordinates internal/external audits.
Candidate Qualifications
Education/Certification
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare, preferably with at least 2-3 years in ophthalmology or related specialty
Experience
- Demonstrated success in managing complex clinical operations, financial performance, and strategic initiatives
- Ability to lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic environment
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices in ophthalmology
Skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a track record of implementing effective solutions in complex healthcare settings
- Proficiency in project management, change management, and process improvement methodologies
- Expertise in building collaborative relationships with physicians, hospital leaders, and external partners
- Commitment to patient-centered care and continuous quality improvement
- Aptitude for adopting new technologies and driving innovation in clinical and operational environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and representing the organization in various forums
Pay
$144,872 - $231,795 annual base pay. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience
