About the Role

Tropicana Brands Group is looking for Legal Counsel to support Employment, Labor, Benefits, and Litigation (both employment and commercial). You will report to the General Counsel and hold authority on legal matters related to the HR function, working with both internal and external counsel as needed. In this role, you will be supported by a future legal assistant and a shared legal Executive Assistant.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with internal business and Legal team colleagues to respond to a range of legal requests and issues across multiple functions.
  • Advise on highly complex and significant legal matters and support ongoing legal or compliance initiatives.
  • Review labor contracts for legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist with labor contract negotiations in the future.
  • Assist regulatory teams with legal, compliance, and reputational issues.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate employment contracts, offer letters, ERISA benefits plans, contractor/consultancy assignments, separation agreements, and other labor, employment, and benefits agreements.
  • Lead or work on EthicsPoint compliance matters.
  • Potentially assist with commercial disputes, including litigation hold processes, electronic discovery, and data collection.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate from a fully accredited U.S. law school.
  • Must be (or willing to become) licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois (preferred).
  • Current active membership in at least one state bar required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must be located in the Chicago, IL area or willing to relocate for the duration of employment.
  • Willingness to adapt to a blended work environment with 3 days in-office per week.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of work experience as a practicing attorney.
  • Experience as internal counsel, in legal communications, and/or with products and manufacturing is a plus.
  • Skilled at handling employee/labor disputes, including EEOC claims and employee lawsuits.
  • Proactive and highly organized; ability to work independently and lead teams.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $140,000–$200,000.
