Sr Director, Legal & Compliance Technology
About the role
Lennar is investing in the technology behind its Legal and Compliance functions. The portfolio spans matter management and legal spend, document management and drafting, entity and corporate governance, risk and insurance, compliance and ethics, and e-discovery. The Sr. Director owns this portfolio and the roadmap that shapes it: running the platforms Legal depends on daily, leading evaluations that determine what comes next, and carrying delivery once a direction is set.
This role is a deliberate pairing with Legal Operations, who owns business process and adoption; the two are accountable for the same outcomes and neither succeeds alone. Platform and investment decisions are made jointly with Functional and Technical leadership, so building the case and driving it to closure matters as much as the technical judgment behind it.
Responsibilities
- Strategy and roadmap
- Own the capability roadmap and gap assessment, translating legal and compliance priorities into a sequenced, fundable plan
- Lead build, buy, and consolidate recommendations, and develop the investment cases for executive approval
- Drive alignment across Functional and Technical leadership; bring options and a recommendation, not open questions
- Platform portfolio
- Own the Legal & Compliance SaaS platform portfolio, including administration, configuration, vendor release and upgrade planning, and technical escalation
- Lead vendor evaluation and selection with Sourcing and Legal; own licensing posture, renewal strategy, and performance against contract
- Contract lifecycle management
- Lead the CLM agenda across intake, authoring, negotiation, approval, execution, repository, obligation management, and renewal: run the evaluation, make the recommendation, own the delivery
- Define the target-state contract architecture with Enterprise Architecture, including boundaries with the enterprise e-signature and procurement intake platforms, and the ERP
- Data, AI, and integration
- Shape the AI agenda for legal and compliance work: evaluate and enable the AI already embedded in the portfolio, and set requirements where more is needed
- Define the legal data, reporting, and integration requirements, and own acceptance of what gets delivered
- Partnership and leadership
- Serve as the primary technology partner to Legal leadership
- Hold scope, quality, and schedule across implementation partners; escalate risk early and with a recommended path
- Lead a product team; partner with security, engineering, architecture, and data & analytic teams for delivery
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher, or equivalent practical experience
- 12+ years in enterprise technology product or platform leadership, including 5+ years leading teams
- Ownership of a multi-platform legal technology portfolio: CLM, matter management, e-billing, or document management
- At least one CLM implementation end to end, including evaluation, configuration, and delivery
- Deep SaaS platform ownership: administration, configuration, release cycles, licensing, and renewals
- Track record of building business cases and driving decisions through executive governance; comfortable influencing without unilateral authority and presenting to senior leadership
- Has operated at this scope before and can partner with functional executives as a peer from day one
- Architecture and integration fluency sufficient to shape platform decisions, set requirements, and challenge vendor claims; experience delivering through partner engineering teams and integrators
Preferred Qualifications
- Legal or compliance domain experience in a corporate legal department, law firm, or legal technology vendor
- Familiarity with the legal technology market: CLM, matter and spend, document management, entity management, GRC, and e-discovery
- AI in production enterprise workflows, including the governance that accompanies it; experience in a matrixed technology organization
