Sr. Director Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE)

About the role

We are seeking a Sr. Director level Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) professional to join the Honeywell Industrial Automation (IA) team. This individual will be a member of the IA HSE Leadership Team, responsible for driving HSE continuous improvement, compliance, and engagement. The role reports to the Vice President HSE and has multiple direct reports.

The successful candidate must be results-driven, able to develop strong relationships with IA business leaders and manufacturing locations, and provide hands-on support to sites. The role requires a well-rounded leader capable of managing HSE professionals across multiple IA Business Enterprises and various countries.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a compliance strategy for both the Honeywell HSE Management System and regulatory requirements at all business locations.
  • Focus on injury reduction through culture and behavior initiatives.
  • Improve environmental and sustainability performance, including permits, waste management, wastewater compliance, energy, and GHG reduction.
  • Lead the execution of the IA HSE vision and mission through deployment of the HSE Management System.
  • Partner with IA leadership to achieve stated goals and objectives.
  • Reduce the risk profile of sites by identifying gaps through self-assessments, audits, gembas, and agency/third-party inspections.
  • Use HOS/Lean Practices and Principles to develop, deploy, and continuously improve HSE results and efficiencies.
  • Support locations with reviews, visits, and inspections to drive continuous improvement in HSE.
  • Work with Corporate HSEPS to ensure consistent and effective auditing of regulatory requirements and Honeywell Level 1 and Level 2 Standards.

Requirements

  • At least 15 years of progressive health and safety experience with increased responsibility.
  • Extensive leadership experience.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Knowledge and management experience with global aspects of HSE and Sustainability.
  • Firm understanding of OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP).

  • Strong ability to communicate and influence decision-making at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent collaboration, program management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Mature judgment and decision-making ability with strategic and tactical HSE experience.
  • Preferred: Broad knowledge of Honeywell policies, procedures, and processes.
