Sr Director, Finance (Division CFO) - FLC
About the role
This role requires a high-acuity strategic and operational finance leader with responsibility for accelerating the performance of a global, technology-driven, clinically essential medical devices division of Baxter. This is a capital equipment, connected devices, digital platforms, and cloud-based workflow solutions business, requiring mastery of device economics, software-enabled recurring revenue, and enterprise data systems.
Responsibilities
- Shape FLC’s multi-year strategy across monitoring, connectivity, analytics, and workflow solutions.
- Understand procedure drivers and consolidate market models.
- Partner with the division president as well as other cross functional leaders to pressure-test strategic assumptions, shape long-range financial, product, go-to-market and payment model strategies.
- Drive portfolio strategy to grow high-value modalities and rationalize underperforming areas.
- Develop market, competitive, and multi scenario financial models for long-horizon investments.
- Anticipate how near-term decisions will influence immediate as well as long-term customer and distributor behaviors, and guide the business toward sustainable growth and profitability.
- Accountable for stewarding the full P&L encompassing top-line growth, margin management, and financial planning cycles (e.g. AOP, rolling, LRP).
- Strengthen commercial execution in long-cycle capital equipment environments, indirect and direct channel management, overall go to market channel optimization.
- Monitor and optimize reimbursement frameworks, pricing architecture, discounting, and tender economics with direct, indirect and Medicare/Medicaid and private insurer payment models.
- Benchmark against major competitors and integrate market insights into executive decision making to guide differentiation and increased value generation.
- Financial modeling for both organic and inorganic investments, including due diligence.
- Improve scalability, standardization, and lifecycle economics.
- Deliver gross-margin expansion through COGS reduction, footprint optimization, and supply-chain improvements.
- Closely monitor and manage sales, pricing, margin, credit management, and productivity funnels tied directly to P&L impact.
- Support multi-year capital heavy purchase cycles – drive improvement in tender economics, deal modelling/structuring, and customer financing scenarios.
- Drive working capital performance, including DSO, DPO, and inventory turns, with clear accountability, governance, and cross-functional execution.
- Serve as the primary strategic advisor to the FLC President and Baxter CFO, synthesizing complex clinical, operational, and financial signals into strategic insights/recommendations.
- Establish world-class forecasting, scenario planning, and KPI dashboards.
- Build advanced driver-based forecasting models spanning capital, accessory, service, and cloud connected revenue streams.
- Manage financial mix, pricing, and margin performance with rigor.
- Reconcile financial systems with commercial operations to ensure accurate forecasting, revenue recognition, and general cross-functional alignment.
- Influence high complexity, cross-functional initiatives across commercial, R&D, engineering, manufacturing, and corporate teams.
- Ensure robust controls across regulated device manufacturing and cybersecurity-sensitive platforms.
- Strengthen risk programs consistent with evolving global medical device industry standards.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and controls, including SOX controls.
- Timely completion of all internal and external audits requests, as well as timely remediation of any findings.
- Recruit, develop, and inspire high-performing talent/teams.
- Champion a culture of trust, respect, accountability, and empowerment with transparency, and analytical rigor.
- Build and lead a global finance team capable of supporting a hybrid hardware-plus-software device portfolio across multiple channels and payment models.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Professional certification such as CPA is a plus.
- 20+ years of experience in strategic finance and/or commercial role required.
- Public accounting or related large public company experience a plus.
- General knowledge of GAAP accounting principles, tax and legal accounting (Knowledge of acquisition accounting a plus).
- Deep experience with capital equipment + consumables + software business models.
- Experience in connected-device/cloud-integrated ecosystems and cybersecurity-impacted product lines.
- Prior senior finance leadership roles in medical devices, healthcare technology, or digital health are an asset.
- Demonstrated turnaround, restructuring, or portfolio-repositioning experience.
- Exceptional business acumen and judgment as well as understanding of relevant business environments.
- Strong negotiation, interpersonal communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to lead multiple, competing priorities.
- Track record of decisive leadership, with ability to generate ideas, develop alternatives, rapidly decide upon best course of action and drive implementation of that decision.
- Strong executive presence with ability to influence/drive consensus cross-functionally and with diverse stakeholders.
- Skilled at assembling and leading both direct as well as cross-functional teams as required.

Pay
The estimated base salary for this position is $200,000 - $275,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
