Sr Director & Controller REMOTE

About the role

We're partnering on a highly visible Controller opportunity with a clinical-stage pharma company advancing a product through trials. The company has a strong balance sheet and excellent cash situation. This role is a broad, high-exposure mandate spanning close, SEC reporting, technical accounting, clinical trial accounting, and treasury. You'll join a high-caliber team at a pivotal moment, with a genuine hand‑off period from the incumbent moving into a new role. The team includes a seasoned ex‑banker/VC background, a tenured biotech finance executive (ex‑Big 4), and a leadership bench built to mentor and develop. The position is 100% remote, with work limited to EST or CT time zones.

Responsibilities

• Oversee month‑end and year‑end close processes
• Manage SEC reporting and equity accounting
• Handle technical accounting matters
• Supervise clinical trial accounting
• Direct treasury functions
• Ensure SOX compliance and internal controls

Requirements

• 15+ years of combined public/private company experience
• Big 4 or Top 7 public accounting background; CPA strongly preferred
• Pharma, biotech, or R&D/clinical trials industry experience
• Deep public company experience: SEC reporting, equity accounting, SOX/controls
• Comfort and effectiveness operating in a fully remote environment

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary $225K–$270K
• 25% target bonus
