Sr. Director, Consumer Communications
About the role
Pinterest’s Consumer Communications function is at the center of how we build cultural relevance and connect with the audiences that matter most—across product storytelling, lifestyle and culture, and creator-led narratives. As Sr. Director, Consumer Communications, you’ll lead a team spanning product, lifestyle/culture and creator communications. Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer, you’ll own Pinterest’s consumer communications strategy end-to-end, serving as the CCO’s primary partner in translating the company’s consumer and brand vision into strategy and execution across consumer, culture and creator audiences.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a high-performing consumer communications organization with clear goals, strong accountability and a culture of excellence and creativity.
- Define and own the integrated consumer communications strategy for Pinterest—across product, lifestyle/culture and creator comms—ensuring coherence and alignment with company and brand priorities.
- Lead the product consumer communications practice, partnering closely with Product and Marketing to develop narratives that bring Pinterest’s product roadmap, visual search, shopping and safety/wellbeing features to life for consumers.
- Lead the lifestyle and culture communications team, setting the narrative vision for how Pinterest shows up in culture and driving strategies that resonate with lifestyle, culture, entertainment and trends media.
- Lead the creator communications practice, defining how we work with creators, influencers and public figures to tell Pinterest’s story and designing programs that put creator voices at the center of consumer narratives.
- Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Editorial, Creative and Social teams to build integrated consumer campaigns—across earned, creator-led, experiential and social channels—that drive cultural relevance and brand love.
- Own the communications strategy for major consumer-facing moments (e.g., Pinterest Predicts, cultural tentpoles, brand collaborations, consumer product launches), determining where we show up, what stories we tell and how we integrate media, creators and experiences for maximum impact.
- Serve as the CCO’s primary partner on consumer-facing brand reputation—advising on narratives, opportunities and risks, and ensuring the CCO and executive team have the insight and strategic options needed for high-stakes consumer and cultural moments.
- Use AI to monitor and analyze cultural and media trends, synthesize consumer and audience insights, and accelerate development of content and recommendations—improving speed, insight and proactivity while maintaining human judgment and accountability.
