About the role

Samsara's Global Compensation team designs and scales programs to attract, reward, and retain the people building our Connected Operations platform. We're looking for a Senior Director, Compensation Partners to co-lead this team alongside our Director of Compensation Operations, reporting to the VP, Total Rewards. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders across Engineering, Product, Sales, and G&A, and act as a key architect of Samsara's compensation strategy as we continue to scale globally. This is a remote position open to candidates in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve Samsara's global compensation strategy and philosophy, aligning it with business goals, growth stage, and talent needs, and balancing market competitiveness, pay equity, and cost efficiency in a fast-moving environment
  • Own job architecture strategy — including leveling frameworks, job families, and career structures — to support consistency, clarity, and growth at scale
  • Drive complex, cross-functional compensation initiatives from concept through implementation, acting as directly responsible individual for outcomes, timelines, and quality
  • Advise senior leaders across Engineering, Product, Sales, and G&A on compensation trends, market competitiveness, and equity practices, including hiring offers, promotions, retention, and organizational changes for critical technical roles
  • Partner with the Director, Compensation Operations to design and implement scalable frameworks, tools, and processes that enable effective, consistent compensation decision-making globally
  • Benchmark against peer technology companies and evolving talent markets to keep Samsara's programs competitive
  • Partner with Finance on compensation planning, forecasting, and equity spend; with HRIS and People Analytics to improve tools and reporting; and with Recruiting to support competitive, scalable hiring strategies
  • Lead, coach, and develop a global team of Compensation Partners supporting multiple business units, building a culture of accountability, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices
  • Hire, develop and lead an inclusive, engaged, and high-performing team

Requirements

  • 8+ years of compensation experience, with deep expertise in broad-based pay and compensation design
  • Experience operating internationally, with a strong understanding of global market practices and regulatory considerations
  • Experience leading and developing compensation teams

Qualifications

  • A track record of shaping decisions and influencing outcomes at the senior leadership level, owning complex, high-impact initiatives end-to-end across strategy and execution
  • Experience partnering closely with Finance, HRIS, and People Analytics to improve compensation modeling, tools, and reporting
  • A demonstrated ability to build alignment, trust, and camaraderie across teams, leading through influence and developing others

Pay

Annual Base Salary: $193,200—$345,000 USD. This role is also eligible for an initial RSU grant with no vesting cliff, and ongoing refresh opportunities tied to performance, subject to plan terms and conditions.
