About the role
The Senior Development Project Engineer (Data Center Construction) plays a crucial role in the design, preconstruction, and construction phases of various projects. This position requires strong communication skills and a deep understanding of commercial construction practices.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the development of master development programs for sites, including comprehensive campus designs and capital budgets.
- Collaborate with QTS stakeholders, design, and construction teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Manage project budgets and schedules, ensuring timely completion and adherence to cost targets.
- Interface with contractors to review and negotiate change orders and provide oversight during construction.
- Ensure compliance with security procedures and establish relationships with key QTS stakeholders.
- Participate in due diligence efforts for potential or new land banks and properties, evaluating opportunities for new data center design and construction.
- Support the internal development team in enhancing project management processes and protocols.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least five years of professional experience in commercial construction practices and procedures, including management of Lump Sum, Construction Management @ Risk, and Design Build project delivery methods.
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite, particularly PowerPoint and Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of interfacing with all levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

- Professional experience in mission critical data center facilities.
- Experience with management of MEP trades.
- Knowledge and skills in problem-solving at a tactical and functional level.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
