Sr. Designer - Superior Completion Services

About the role

Superior Completion Services is seeking a Senior Designer for its Houston, TX office. This position supports the Research, Design, New Product Development, and Sustaining Engineering Group in developing and qualifying new downhole completion tool products.

Responsibilities

• Generate layouts and detailed engineering calculations for new and modified equipment designs.
• Participate in development design reviews and make "best choice" recommendations.
• Ensure that manufacturing drawings are consistent with the working layouts for product designs.
• Lead the assembly and lab testing of prototypes for product qualification.
• Draft documentation of new products.
• Provide technical assistance to manufacturing, assembly, and operation personnel.
• Review machine drawings and advise on manufacturability.
• Initiate, check, and approve change notices, test requests, and write test reports.
• Disposition of rejected parts.
• Work with minimum supervision.

Requirements

• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in the design of downhole completion oil and gas tools.
• Experience in new product development.
• Experience working with API and ISO specifications (API 11D1, API 19V, API 19ICV, API 19AC, etc.).
• 3D modeling skills are required; working knowledge of AutoDesk Inventor is preferred.
• Ability to work "hands-on" in a test lab and/or manufacturing facility.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
• Excellent written and spoken communication, efficiency, and time management skills are required.

Qualifications

• An Associate of Applied Science in Drafting and Design Engineering or equivalent education and experience is required.

Skills

• Design experience developing downhole completion tools to meet industry standards.
