Sr Designer Civil/Structural

About the role

Zachry Engineering Corporation (ZEC) is seeking a talented and self-motivated Civil 3D Designer to join our Engineering office in Charlotte, North Carolina. This position offers the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects with long-term clients, focusing on Civil 3D design and modeling for industrial and energy-related projects. The role involves developing grading, drainage, and site development deliverables while collaborating with engineers and other designers in a fast-paced EPC environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Civil 3D models for grading, drainage, and site development.
• Generate and manage digital terrain models (DTMs), surfaces, and contour maps.
• Create and annotate civil drawings, including grading plans, cut/fill maps, earthwork balance figures, drainage layouts, and 3D views for constructability reviews.
• Extract quantities and generate detailed material take-offs (MTOs) from Civil 3D models.
• Coordinate surface and utility data with piping, structural, and mechanical disciplines.
• Support revisions and updates throughout the project lifecycle.
• Follow company CAD standards, templates, and workflows.
• Participate in model reviews and design coordination meetings.
• Assist in the setup and maintenance of Civil 3D templates, styles, and data shortcuts.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Minimum 12 years of relevant civil drafting or design experience using Autodesk Civil 3D.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D tools for surfaces, grading, and volume calculations.
• Experience producing construction documents and MTOs in a design office or EPC environment.
• Understanding of site development principles, grading, and drainage.
• Familiarity with coordinate systems, georeferencing, and survey data integration.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Strong analytical and systems analysis capabilities.
