Sr. Designer - Cat & Jack Girls Knit Apparel

About the role

The Senior Designer – Cat & Jack Girls Knit Apparel is responsible for leading the design and development of knit apparel for the Cat & Jack brand. This role requires a minimum of 8+ years of experience, advanced understanding of textiles, garment construction/fit, and raw materials, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Maintain workload management and ensure clear, timely communication with internal and external partners.
• Lead knit product research, design, and development, translating ideas into clear product direction and communicating guidance on materials, washes, trims, artwork, garment construction, and fit.
• Identify and forecast trends across categories, brands, businesses, and guest segments through market research and global shopping.
• Travel to global markets and factories to support trend research, product development, and program execution.
• Mentor Associate Designers and Designers while fostering collaboration across the broader team.
• Collaborate on concept development, including color palettes, fabrics, trims, and artwork that support the overall category design vision for the collection.
• Ensure brand cohesion and continuity through collaboration with peers across the division.
• Present professional designs that clearly communicate design intent.
• Work with Technical Designers and sourcing partners to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve product issues.

Requirements

• A four-year degree in Design, Fine Art, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Advanced understanding of textiles, garment construction/fit, and raw materials & product production.
• Commercial sense, market knowledge, and ability to research and apply market/trend information.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to successfully work in a team environment.
• Knowledge of product development processes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8+ years of experience in design or related field.
• Computer design system skills including Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Commercial sense, market knowledge, and ability to research and apply market/trend information.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of product development processes.
