Sr. Design Engineer (Utilities) - Dynamic Engineering
About the role
The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for leading due diligence investigations and design and engineering analyses for water and wastewater utilities to support various types of retail, commercial, industrial, and residential site projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead due diligence investigations and design and engineering analyses for water and wastewater utilities.
- Prepare Site Investigation and Due Diligence Reports, including reviews of ordinances, utility service research, outside agency regulations, and site visits.
- Design Conceptual Utility Plans and Utility System Design Plans.
- Prepare Construction Cost Estimates and coordinate with clients, other consultants, and project teams.
- Perform calculations related to pumping systems and hydraulics for various unit processes at water and wastewater facilities.
- Prepare technical reports including water and sanitary sewer reports.
- Prepare written correspondence to outside agencies, clients, contractors, etc.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
- 4+ years’ experience in Civil Utilities Engineering.
- Engineer-In-Training (EIT) required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to maintain and operate personal and/or company vehicle.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD for site plan drawings.
- Knowledge of the planning and zoning process.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and stormwater design programs.
- Design and drafting capabilities.
- Grading and drainage design skills.
- Utility design experience including water main extensions, gravity sewer conveyance systems, pump stations, and force mains.
- Experience dealing with regulatory agencies and review professionals.
- Proficiency in using available mapping websites for due diligence and site investigation purposes.
- Proficiency in using design tools such as AutoCAD Civil3D, Hydraflow, StormCAD, Storm and Sanitary Analysis (SSA), and Microsoft software including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
- Proficiency in using Bluebeam Revu and/or Adobe for design document markups.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Independent and critical thinking abilities.
- Superior organizational and delegation abilities.
- Ability to work and lead in a team-oriented environment.
- Client management experience.
