Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and support for enterprise databases including:
- Complex design and implementation of physical database structures, including required database design documentation.
- Evaluating upgrades to determine changes needed before implementation and how to leverage upgrade functionality.
- Planning for infrastructure and operational changes such as SQL Server upgrades, code migrations, and applications/infrastructure upgrades.
- Researching, testing and installing new database-related software.
- Expert understanding of physical data modeling, database design principals, and the system development lifecycle.
- Designing backup/recovery/reorg strategy for system resources as well as the security and replication strategies.
- Utilizing database monitoring tools (i.e. Idera, Spotlight, Redgate) and developing procedures to maximize database availability and performance while meeting defined targets.
- Congducting maintenance proactively.
Qualifications
- Minimum: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field—or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of hands‑on experience as a Database Administrator in enterprise environments.
- Deep expertise with one or more RDBMS platforms (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
- Strong SQL skills and experience with performance tuning tools and methodologies.
- Experience with high‑availability solutions such as AlwaysOn, Data Guard, clustering, replication, or cloud-native HA.
- Solid understanding of backups, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Experience with monitoring and automation tools.
- Experience with OLTP and OLAP.
