Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and support for enterprise databases including:
    • Complex design and implementation of physical database structures, including required database design documentation.
    • Evaluating upgrades to determine changes needed before implementation and how to leverage upgrade functionality.
    • Planning for infrastructure and operational changes such as SQL Server upgrades, code migrations, and applications/infrastructure upgrades.
    • Researching, testing and installing new database-related software.
  • Expert understanding of physical data modeling, database design principals, and the system development lifecycle.
  • Designing backup/recovery/reorg strategy for system resources as well as the security and replication strategies.
  • Utilizing database monitoring tools (i.e. Idera, Spotlight, Redgate) and developing procedures to maximize database availability and performance while meeting defined targets.
  • Congducting maintenance proactively.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field—or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of hands‑on experience as a Database Administrator in enterprise environments.
  • Deep expertise with one or more RDBMS platforms (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with performance tuning tools and methodologies.
  • Experience with high‑availability solutions such as AlwaysOn, Data Guard, clustering, replication, or cloud-native HA.
  • Solid understanding of backups, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Experience with monitoring and automation tools.
  • Experience with OLTP and OLAP.
