About the role

The Senior Data Analyst supports the firm’s strategic initiatives within the Data Analytics group, focusing on data-driven forecasting, analytics projects, and data innovation. This role applies advanced analytical techniques to support strategic decision-making and requires strong analytical, technical, and financial acumen. The position involves using tools such as Power BI, Power Desktop, and SSRS to deliver high-impact analytics, reporting, and dashboards, develop complex data models, and resolve data quality issues. The Senior Data Analyst leads large-scale analytical initiatives, mentors junior analysts, and collaborates with stakeholders to prioritize business needs and deliver actionable insights.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize Power BI and other advanced analytics tools to deliver comprehensive and high-impact analytics, forecasting, reporting, and insight-driven solutions.
  • Collaborate with FP&A, Service Delivery, Senior Finance leadership, and other key stakeholders to identify and prioritize complex business problems.
  • Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance data integrity.
  • Drive and manage large-scale analytical projects that span multiple teams and functions.
  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts to ensure project alignment with business objectives and successful execution.
  • Analyze trends and derive actionable insights to address complex business challenges.
  • Design and develop advanced solutions to streamline processes, improve data quality, and drive intelligent automation.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Engage with stakeholders at all levels to understand their needs and provide tailored data solutions.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, demonstrating strong financial storytelling skills.
  • Conduct research, analyze and present data to identify trends, forecast outcomes, and support informed decision-making related to financial performance.
  • Develop and implement data collection techniques to optimize statistical efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science/Analytics, Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Data Analyst or similar role, including experience with data modeling, statistical analysis, and processes.

Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret large, complex datasets, identify trends, and provide actionable data-driven insights.
  • Highly proficient in data visualization tools (Power BI Report Builder/SSRS or Tableau).
  • Experience in management reporting, report creation processes, and dashboard design.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, data analysis, VBA, and data visualization techniques.
  • Experience with advanced statistical methods and data modeling techniques.
  • Highly proficient in SQL and programming languages (Python/R/VBA) or other relevant programming languages.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating complex queries, data manipulation, and automation of data processes.
  • Experience or interest in Machine Learning and AI implementation.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing business needs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in work.

Physical Demands

This is primarily sedentary work, requiring occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects. The role involves sitting for extended periods, with occasional walking and standing, and occasional travel, both domestic and international.

Work Environment

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement combining remote and in-office work. The specific arrangement will be determined at the time of hiring and may be modified at the firm's discretion. The role can be based in any of DLA Piper’s U.S. offices.

Pay

The expected hiring range for this position is $89,991 - $143,088 per year, depending on the candidate’s geographic market location. The compensation offered will also depend on factors including the candidate’s experience, skills, educational and professional background, and overall qualifications.
