Sr Counsel - Litigation

Responsibilities

• Select and manage outside counsel representing Valero in legal proceedings, and where appropriate, appear directly as counsel
• Advise regarding disputes or potential disputes, which have not risen to litigation
• Manage investigations and administrative proceedings
• Receive and properly handle all matters for which Valero receives service of process
• Evaluate and pursue indemnity or insurance coverage in appropriate circumstances
• Investigate and evaluate potential claims by the company, where appropriate
• Coordinate discovery, including the preparation of witnesses and the collection of documents and other information

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or higher level degree in a related field required
• Law degree required
• Admitted to the practice of law in the relevant state or be otherwise eligible to practice law in such state required
• 8 years of legal practice experience required
• Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero San Antonio location, required

Preferred Requirements

• Experience in relevant function with another major public corporation or a law firm preferred
