Responsibilities
- Manage cost accounting activities for manufacturing operations, including the review and maintenance of standard costs and product cost structures.
- Prepare inventory-related reporting and reconcile balances to ensure accuracy across financial records and operational data.
- Lead assigned month-end close tasks by recording entries, analyzing results, and supporting timely completion of reporting deadlines.
- Investigate cost and inventory variances, identify underlying drivers, and communicate findings with actionable recommendations.
- Oversee fixed asset accounting activities, including tracking, reconciliations, and support for capitalization and depreciation processes.
- Provide documentation, schedules, and analysis to assist with audits and internal or external financial reporting requirements.
- Use ERP and Excel to compile data, perform detailed analysis, and improve visibility into cost performance and inventory trends.
Requirements
- Strong background in cost accounting, with demonstrated experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Hands-on expertise with standard cost accounting, including cost analysis and variance review.
- Proficiency in an ERP system used to support accounting and inventory processes.
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze large data sets and build useful reporting.
- Experience supporting month-end close, inventory accounting, and financial reconciliations.
- Working knowledge of fixed assets, audit support, and financial reporting practices.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in cost accounting and manufacturing environments. CPA certification is preferred but not required.
