About the role

This is a critical, hybrid role based in Charlotte, encompassing project management, field technician work, project development, and some design/engineering. Work is field-based, conducted on-site at customer locations.

Responsibilities

  • Commissioning, diagnosis, and repair of environmental-control systems utilizing knowledge of electronics, direct digital control, airflow, hydronics, refrigeration theory, and control techniques.
  • Hardware and software design activities for small building automation systems, using engineering principles and practices.
  • Own direct controls projects as defined by the local office, including those with strategic value in the District Office.
  • Manage financial aspects of projects: scope of work, schedule, and budget.
  • Manage multiple vendors, subcontractors, and technicians as needed.

Requirements

  • Diploma/degree or equivalent in Engineering, HVAC, or Building Control (or relevant field).
  • 10+ years of experience in HVAC/Building Automation Systems (BAS).
  • Knowledge of industrial system protocols like BACnet, Modbus, LONTalk.
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft Office software and proficiency with handheld devices (e.g., smartphone, iPad).
  • Valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations (e.g., DUI, hit & run, license suspension, reckless/careless driving, or multiple smaller infractions/preventable collisions in the previous 3 years).

Pay

Annual base salary range: $56,800.00 – $116,700.00 (exception hourly). Compensation depends on seniority, merit, geographic location, education, experience, travel requirements, and union designation.
