About the role
Vertafore equips agencies, MGAs, and carriers with core digital systems, specialized AI, and a data-driven foundation to eliminate distribution drag across the insurance lifecycle—spanning sales, servicing, and back-office operations. As a Senior Consultant on the Professional Services team, you will serve as a trusted advisor, partnering with customers to deliver successful software implementations from project kickoff through go-live. You will leverage expertise in system configuration, data conversion, training, and business process consulting to help customers achieve their business objectives and maximize the value of their investment.
Working closely with customers, project teams, and both internal and external stakeholders, you will gather requirements, design solutions, and ensure alignment between project goals and organizational priorities. As a key member of the MGA Professional Services team, you will combine technical knowledge with business acumen to drive project success, deliver exceptional customer experiences, and serve as the primary resource accountable for the successful implementation of assigned projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation efforts for complex projects, including requirement gathering, analysis, documentation, and execution of business needs, functional and non-functional specifications, use cases, and process flows.
- Manage the full lifecycle of enterprise SaaS implementation projects from kickoff to user acceptance testing, training, and delivery.
- Execute data conversion tasks, author project deliverables, and provide application configuration consulting throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work with the technical implementation team to ensure technical requirements are understood and completed.
- Collaborate with the product and engineering team to ensure relevant customer feedback is considered in the roadmap and feature/bug prioritization.
- Collaborate with project sponsors and stakeholders to ensure a thorough understanding of business objectives and technical solutions, aligning them with overarching Professional Services goals.
- Communicate project deliverables at all levels, ensuring items are executed on time, to budget, and with high quality.
- Participate in project planning, scoping calls, and estimation activities, providing valuable insights and contributing to project scope definition, including writing statements of work (SOWs).
- Understand customer needs and translate them into configurable requirements, implementing them successfully.
- Build strong relationships to effectively collaborate with partners across all levels of the organization to understand their business, challenges, and opportunities.
- Produce high-quality deliverables, including clear and concise business documents, reports, and presentations.
- Conduct thorough research and analysis to identify process improvement opportunities and provide recommendations for optimizing project delivery.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development and QA, as well as other project/program managers, to ensure successful implementation of projects.
- Proactively identify and address project issues, risks, and dependencies to mitigate potential challenges and ensure project success.
- Manage multiple priorities with a detail-oriented mindset to meet project deadlines.
- Facilitate effective communication and knowledge sharing among project team members and stakeholders.
- Mentor and guide other consultants, providing support, feedback, and sharing best practices to enhance their skills and performance.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to business analysis and software development.
- Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced software development environment.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of experience working as a Consultant in the MGA insurance industry.
- 7+ years of experience in a Professional Services organization.
- Strong knowledge of insurance business practices and structure.
- Broad knowledge of policy administration systems, raters, and other insurance business applications.
- Experience managing or working with enterprise customers.
- Strong knowledge of insurance accounting practices (preferred).
- Knowledge of insurance industry-specific standards and regulations (preferred).
- Experience in facilitating workshops and conducting user interviews (preferred).
- Familiarity with project management methodologies and frameworks (e.g., PMBOK) (preferred).
Skills
- Proficiency in MS Office Applications.
- Working knowledge of backend development systems.
- Strong knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
- Exceptional communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders both internally and externally.
