Sr. Compliance Specialist, Amazon Global Logistics

About the role

The organization operates within the international logistics and supply chain industry, focusing on providing comprehensive cross-border transportation services. It addresses challenges in international shipping by delivering end-to-end supply chain solutions that streamline customs and regulatory processes for global shipments. The SENIOR COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST role is dedicated to managing daily customs clearance operations across multiple transport modes including ocean, air, rail, and truck. This position ensures compliance with international trade regulations and supports the resolution of customs-related inquiries and penalties, contributing to the organization's efficiency and reliability in global logistics.

Responsibilities

• Review and audit entry filings, including PGA, HTS classification, and AD/CVD
• Develop audit initiatives to identify and mitigate compliance risks
• Handle regulatory inquiries from customs authorities and customers
• Collaborate with stakeholders to draft petitions and protests for duty mitigation
• Analyze customs penalties to determine root causes and corrective actions
• Interpret and apply regulatory guidance based on relevant federal codes
• Submit Duty Drawback entries
• Create and update Standard Operating Procedures for regulatory changes
• Advise clients on import restrictions, tariffs, and customs matters at an introductory level
• Maintain subject matter expertise on compliance requirements and communicate updates to operational teams across locations

Requirements

• Experience in Trade Compliance or Supply Chain roles such as customs agent, compliance specialist, or customs operations
• Experience auditing customs entry documentation and related data

Qualifications

• Licensed customs broker or recent successful completion of CBLE

Skills

• Intermediate proficiency in Excel including pivot tables, charts, complex formulas, and data cleansing
