About the role

The AHA is a national organization representing and serving hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. The AHA operates from two main offices in Washington, D.C., and Chicago.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement communications strategies to support various AHA business units and projects.
  • Write and edit news articles, reports, policy briefs, blogs, e-newsletters and other communications products to promote AHA resources to members and the public.
  • Conduct research and develop content for assigned communications products.
  • Ensures all content is consistent and on-brand across assigned communication channels.
  • Adheres to AHA style guidelines.
  • Maintains content of assigned webpages on a regular basis.
  • Attends assigned conferences and helps produce blogs, podcasts and videos.
  • Contributes to Advocacy and Member Communications team by recommending strategies to help drive member engagement with AHA communication products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or related field.
  • 5+ years professional writing and editing experience.
  • Experience with writing for and editing electronic newsletters.
  • Knowledge of Associated Press style.
  • Intermediate computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and PowerPoint) skills.
  • Familiarity with video creation and editing software.
  • Knowledge of a marketing automation platform, such as Real Magnet.
  • Familiarity with a website content management system.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to work successfully with senior executives, policy experts, lobbyists, legal and communications staff.
  • Ability to handle shifting priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to translate complex issues into clear, accurate and persuasive prose.
  • Ability to develop clear messages and customize them for a variety of audiences.

Pay

Salary Information: Commensurate with related experience. The AHA is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. A candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and location. Salary Range - Minimum: $79,000 Salary Range - Midpoint: $99,000 Salary Range - Maximum: $119,000

Schedule

A flexible hybrid work schedule of three days in the office and two days working remotely.
