About the Role

The Senior Clinical Support Resource is responsible for additional administration and operational activities on top of an existing clinical support role. The percentage of time split between each role is determined by the needs of each department. Responsibilities may include team lead duties as decided by clinical and administrative leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a role model, mentor, and resource for the team.
  • Collaborates with the support team, provides training, and shares knowledge.
  • Participates in the orientation and competency development of team members, including regulatory requirements (e.g., The Joint Commission).
  • Supports the work of others and provides input into performance evaluations, hiring, and onboarding processes.
  • Ensures new team members are prepared for competency assessments.
  • Solicits feedback and ideas to improve quality processes and outcomes.
  • Makes recommendations on effective resource use.
  • Monitors equipment, alerts management and clinical engineering of issues, and completes service request forms for repairs.
  • Tracks supply expiration dates, ensures appropriate inventory levels, and orders supplies as needed.
  • Assists with scheduling, technology support, and process improvement efforts.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must currently hold a relevant clinical support title (varies by entity).
  • Excellent performance history in current role.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience (prior and current work combined).
  • Must be in current role for at least 6 months to be considered.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Patient care experience required through one of the following: CNA, MA, EMT, PCT certificate, or currently enrolled nursing student who has completed at least one clinical rotation.
  • Completion of BIDMC in-house training program, Allied Health, or Physician Assistant program candidates.
  • Home Health Aide experience accepted.
  • Basic familiarity with computers and ability to navigate web-based applications.

  • Age-Based Competencies: Competent to provide patient care across age groups: Neonatal (birth to 6 months), Young Adult (16-30 years), Middle Age (30-60 years), Elderly (60+ years).

Work Environment

  • Requires close attention to task for accuracy.
  • Work routine is consistent but requires judgment to respond to events several times a week.
  • Potential daily exposure to adverse conditions, including protective equipment use (respirator, earplugs, mask, gloves, eyewear).
  • Potential exposure to infectious diseases, airborne pathogens, and bloodborne pathogens.
  • Health Care Worker Status (HCW1): Regular, day-to-day contact with patients (both face-to-face and hands-on, within three feet for at least five minutes).
  • Sensory Requirements: Close work, color vision, visual clarity (near and far), temperature differentiation, sharp/dull perception, smell, conversation, monitoring equipment, telephone use, and background noise.

Physical Requirements

  • Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently.
  • Requires constant walking, standing, frequent bending (neck/waist), twisting (neck/waist), and occasional crouching (may exceed 5 minutes).
  • Repetitive crouching (more than 2 times per minute).
  • Power grasping, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling using both hands.
  • Reaching above and below shoulder height.
  • Lifting and carrying items up to 75 pounds (occasionally up to or exceeding 100 pounds).
  • Pulling up or repositioning patients up to 100 pounds without assistance and up to 250 pounds with assistance.
  • Pushing items up to 100 pounds and pushing wheelchairs or wheeled beds with patients up to 250 pounds (with assistance).
  • Occasional keyboard use.

Pay

The base hourly pay range for this position is $24.50 - $32.97. Actual compensation is determined based on factors such as seniority, education, training, relevant experience, certifications, geography, job responsibilities, and applicable shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, or overtime.

Additional Information

Beth Israel Lahey Health requires all staff to be vaccinated against influenza (flu) as a condition of employment. This position is classified as a Health Care Worker (HCW1) role with regular patient contact.
