Sr. Claim Attorney

Responsibilities

• Represent insured and self-insured employers in the litigation of workers' compensation claims.
• Prepare legal correspondence, memorandums, briefs and pleadings.
• Participate in the negotiation and settlements of litigated claims.
• Conduct depositions of claimants, insureds and expert witnesses.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor from an accredited U.S. law school.
• Licensed with the NJ Bar Association.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of workers compensation litigation experience representing insured and self-insured employers with a proven track record of providing quality and cost effective advocacy.
• Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word and ability to use internal legal billing software/systems.
• Superior verbal and written communication skills, including ability to deliver client presentations and conduct training seminars.
• Demonstrated ability to be detail oriented, exercise good judgment, and balance multiple competing priorities.
• Ability to work effectively in either a self-directed or a collaborative environment.
• Solid research, analytical and negotiation skills.
• Extensive technical knowledge of NJ workers compensation law and litigation process and ability to effectively apply such knowledge in a variety of claims and business situations.
• Strong familiarity with, and ability to apply, litigation management techniques.
• Ability to travel to various locations throughout the NJ area.
