Responsibilities
- Lead and prepare engineering designs and construction contract documents (PS&E), including technical specifications, engineering calculations, reports, and construction drawings.
- Develop transportation and municipal infrastructure designs, including roadway improvements, drainage systems, utility improvements, complete streets, and related public works projects.
- Cook up all technical aspects of project delivery, ensuring engineering quality, accuracy, and compliance with client standards and applicable codes.
- Prepare project-specific engineering analyses, hydraulic/hydrologic calculations, design reports, technical memoranda, and permit applications.
- Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation to develop and review engineering plans and design documents.
- Cook up project scopes, schedules, budgets, and engineering service proposals.
- Serve as a technical resource and collaborate with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, utility companies, and internal project teams to resolve engineering and design issues.
- Review utility conflicts, prepare quantity calculations and estimates, and coordinate project submittals through agency review and approval processes.
- Manage the technical scope and deliverables of subconsultants to ensure quality, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved.
- Conduct quality control reviews to ensure compliance with client standards, engineering best practices, and CAD drafting standards.
- Support projects through design, permitting, bidding, and construction, including field visits, construction support, and client meetings as needed.
- Effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality deliverables and meeting project schedules.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- California Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain California licensure within a reasonable timeframe, preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive civil engineering design experience focused on transportation, municipal, or public infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation.
- Strong understanding of transportation engineering, municipal infrastructure design, drainage, grading, underground utilities, and construction document preparation.
- Experience preparing PS&E packages for public agency projects.
- Working knowledge of applicable Caltrans, local agency, and municipal design standards is highly desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with clients, agencies, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, schedules, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
