About the role
We are looking for an experienced Sr. Buyer/MRO to support procurement activities in Greenville, South Carolina. This role is suited for a sourcing-focused, detail-oriented individual who can identify suppliers with relevant experience, secure favorable commercial terms, and address specialized purchasing needs in a complex maintenance environment. The ideal candidate brings strong judgment, supplier management expertise, and hands-on experience working across a broad range of parts, materials, and services.
Responsibilities
- Identify and assess new suppliers for maintenance, repair, and operations needs, with an emphasis on hard-to-source and non-routine items.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, service expectations, and contract terms to improve value and supply reliability.
- Manage vendor relationships to support consistent performance, responsiveness, and long-term procurement effectiveness.
- Source specialized equipment, replacement parts, materials, and external services required to keep maintenance operations running efficiently.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to understand technical requirements and develop practical purchasing solutions for unique requests.
- Process purchase activities within SAP, including supplier setup, requisition review, order execution, and inventory-related coordination.
- Monitor supplier delivery, quality, and issue resolution to reduce disruptions and maintain operational continuity.
Requirements
- Proven experience in MRO purchasing, sourcing, or procurement within a maintenance, repair, transmission, or industrial setting.
- Strong ability to locate suppliers and purchase one-time or specialized items outside of routine, high-volume buying models.
- Demonstrated success negotiating supplier pricing, commercial terms, and delivery commitments.
- Solid background in vendor management and building productive supplier relationships.
- Proficiency using SAP for purchasing, supplier, inventory, and procurement transactions.
- Experience supporting maintenance operations through the purchase of diverse parts, materials, and services.
- Ability to evaluate non-standard requirements and develop effective sourcing strategies in a fast-paced environment.
