Responsibilities

  • Manage processes related to the purchase of equipment, supplies, and services for assigned suppliers, categories, and manufacturing site.
  • Participate in developing and monitoring performance against the annual operating budget.
  • Coordinate formal and informal bids, request for quote/qualification (RFQs), and request for proposals (RFPs); ensure all applicable legal and contractual provisions are met.
  • Manage and participate in solicitation, evaluation, and award of bids; perform or assist others in price/cost analysis.
  • Negotiate contract provisions and prepare specifications as required.
  • Lead cost reduction activities and report them to the purchasing manager consistently.
  • Maintain the MRP system’s integrity, monitoring indicators, reporting on, and ensuring the smooth flow of purchasing transactions (from PO entry, expediting, tracking multi-party component assemblies, assisting in part number creation, etc.).
  • Create consigned vendor managed inventory (CVMI) or vendor managed inventory (VMI) agreements and maintain proper inventory levels to benefit operational performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • 6+ years of procurement experience; semiconductor manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor fab tools, installation processes, and supplier ecosystem.
  • Proven ability to lead high-value negotiations and develop supplier partnerships.
  • Proficiency in Oracle ERP systems; Excel and Microsoft Project experience strongly preferred.

Skills

  • Full understanding and working knowledge of MRP systems, bill of materials (BOM), accounting, production control, receiving, and inventory, along with some database management skills.
  • Ability to understand Purchasing’s role in the ERP/MRP environment and interface with manufacturing database systems (e.g., Agile).
  • Strong ability to drive actions and solutions through cross-functional teams using professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues.
  • In-depth understanding of commodities purchased and knowledge of industry leaders providing those commodities.
  • Strong negotiation and customer service skills to interface with internal customers and outside suppliers.
  • Effective communication between operations personnel and upper management.
  • Strong time management skills and self-motivation to manage multiple projects and ensure timely completion.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to work around chemicals (such as solids and acids).
  • Ability to stand for up to 1 hour at a time.
  • Ability to work weekends as needed to respond to the business needs of a 24/7 manufacturing facility.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 6-10 pounds.
  • Ability to push/pull up to 6-10 pounds.
  • Ability to sit for up to 4 hours at a time.

  • Follow site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards.
  • Depending on location, responsible for the execution and maintenance of ISO 9000, 9001, 14001, and/or other applicable standards within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
