About the role

The Senior Business Analyst (Sr. BA) serves as the primary liaison between Business, Product, and Data Engineering teams to successfully deliver data and analytics initiatives that support pharmaceutical commercialization. This role is responsible for gathering and documenting business requirements, managing end-to-end project delivery, facilitating Agile ceremonies, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality data engineering solutions. The Sr. BA works closely with business stakeholders, Product Managers, Data Engineers, QA, Architects, and leadership to drive projects from concept through production deployment while maintaining project governance and stakeholder alignment.

The ideal candidate possesses strong business analysis, project management, stakeholder communication, and Agile delivery skills, along with an understanding of modern data engineering concepts including ETL/ELT, cloud data platforms, data warehousing, reporting solutions, and data integration.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document business, functional, and technical requirements for data engineering initiatives.
  • Translate business requirements into Epics, User Stories, Acceptance Criteria, process flows, and functional specifications using Agile best practices.
  • Lead end-to-end project delivery by managing project plans, timelines, milestones, dependencies, risks, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Manage Agile delivery using JIRA, including backlog prioritization, sprint planning, story refinement, progress tracking, and Agile ceremonies.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Business, Product, Engineering, QA, and Architecture teams, ensuring effective stakeholder communication and alignment.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers and Architects to support data integration, ETL/ELT, cloud data platform, reporting, and analytics initiatives.
  • Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), defect management, release planning, deployment readiness, and Hypercare support to ensure successful solution delivery.
  • Monitor project health through status reporting, dashboards, executive communications, and proactive risk and issue management.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, requirements traceability, governance artifacts, and SDLC deliverables while promoting documentation standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to optimize delivery processes, standardize methodologies, and enhance Agile and project governance practices.
  • Mentor team members, foster collaboration, and promote knowledge sharing while demonstrating a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Senior Business Analyst, Project Coordinator, or similar role supporting technology or data initiatives.
  • Proven experience gathering business and functional requirements and translating them into actionable technical deliverables.
  • Strong experience managing multiple projects simultaneously within Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Hands-on experience using JIRA for backlog management, sprint planning, issue tracking, reporting, and Agile delivery.
  • Solid understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of Data Engineering concepts including ETL/ELT, data warehousing, cloud data platforms, APIs, SQL, and reporting solutions.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence decisions and drive cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining quality, accuracy, and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within the Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences, Healthcare, or Commercialization industry.
  • Experience supporting Data Engineering, Data Warehouse, Business Intelligence, Analytics, or Cloud Data Platform initiatives.
  • Familiarity with modern data technologies including Snowflake, GBQ, dbt, Qlik, AWS, SQL, Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of release management, change management, and production support processes.
  • Experience preparing executive-level dashboards, project governance reports, and portfolio status updates.
  • PMP, PMI-ACP, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), CBAP, or equivalent certification.
  • Experience working in regulated environments with an understanding of compliance, data privacy, and healthcare/pharmaceutical business processes.

Schedule

  • 40 hours per week, 8 AM–5 PM local time, Monday through Friday.
  • Occasionally may require extra hours and weekend work to meet project deadlines.

Pay

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $105,000 to $130,000 and is not applicable to locations outside of the U.S. Compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, other job-related qualifications/skills, and geographic location (to account for comparative cost of living).
