Sr. Backend Engineer

About the role

dv01 is dedicated to bringing transparency to the financial markets, particularly in structured finance, which spans mortgages, personal loans, auto, buy-now-pay-later programs, small business, and student loans. With a focus on data analytics, dv01 aims to prevent a repeat of the 2008 global financial crisis by providing the data and tools necessary for smarter, data-driven decisions.

Responsibilities

• Bring transparency to consumer lending, mortgages, and other asset classes by enabling our customers to quickly extract insights from large private and public datasets.
• Develop using a modern, open source stack including Kotlin + Spring Boot and interacting with data through REST API and GraphQL endpoints.
• Collaborate with various teams at dv01, including the product team, design team, data engineering team, and front-end engineers, to create great products.
• Gain knowledge of the financial industry by learning about the participants, terminology, and mathematics behind structured products.

Requirements

• A well-rounded engineer with 6+ years of experience, focusing on engineering fundamentals, testing, and system maintainability.
• Extensive experience architecting data-driven products with complex workflows and a strong understanding of SQL and database systems.
• Curiosity to expand financial knowledge, especially in structured products.

Nice to haves

• Familiarity with financial concepts, specifically structured products.
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform, Google BigQuery, and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with data analytics tools like Spark, R, or Pandas.
• Familiarity with React, Redux, Node.js.
• Familiarity with Excel Pivot Tables.
