About the role
The Senior Store Manager (SSM) oversees a retail store and up to two additional stores within a geographic area. Key responsibilities include leading the team, managing operations, and ensuring compliance with Goodwill's policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provides quality leadership for internal and external customers in all assigned tasks, upholding Goodwill's mission.
- Develops and trains store management teams, focusing on customer service, revenue goals, and performance management.
- Administers policies and procedures, ensuring growth and revenue in the assigned area.
- Maintains safe working conditions and enforces store standards in areas such as customer service, merchandise presentation, production, housekeeping, and cash handling.
- Ensures store production goals are met, maximizes floor layout for sales per square foot, and maintains inventory levels.
- Trains and develops store management and oversees employee training and evaluation.
- Manages hiring, performance management, disciplinary actions, and termination processes.
- Monitors store sales to ensure revenue goals are achieved and completes required reporting.
- Administers budgets for the home store and assigned stores, ensuring expense-to-revenue ratios are maintained.
- Maintains required reports and records, including accurate employee time reporting.
- Monitors payroll expenses and maintains payroll budgets.
- Develops communication channels to foster an open-door environment.
Requirements
- Five years of retail experience with at least two years of managerial experience.
- Valid Driver's License and state auto insurance.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, especially Excel.
- Proven leadership skills including business acumen, supervision, creativity, ability to adapt to change, interviewing & selection, observation, organization, planning, performance management, data analysis and reporting.
- Effective communication (both verbal and written).
- Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills.
- Ability to learn, retain, and apply production and procedures information.
- Able to perform basic computer skills, including strong working knowledge of Excel.
- Able to regularly lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Able to work without supervision and be available to be on call on a rotating basis during weekends and holidays.
Qualifications
- High School or GED required.
- Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Education in retail management or similar concentration preferred.
