About the role
The Senior Store Manager (SSM) oversees a retail store and manages up to two additional stores within a geographic area. Key responsibilities include leading the team, developing staff, and ensuring compliance with Goodwill's policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provides quality leadership for internal and external customers.
- Develops and trains store management teams.
- Hires, trains, develops, coaches, appraises performance, rewards, and disciplines employees.
- Maintains safe working conditions and work practices.
- Ensures store standards are met in customer service, merchandise presentation, production, housekeeping, and cash handling.
- Monitors store sales and ensures revenue goals are achieved.
- Maintains store budgets and monitors quality standards.
- Trains and evaluates store employees.
- Manages store operations and hires, trains, and evaluates store managers.
- Administers budget for home store and assigned stores.
- Reports safety concerns and monitors payroll expenses.
- Ensures accurate employee time reporting.
- Develops open communication channels.
Requirements
- Five years of retail experience with at least two years of managerial experience.
- Valid Driver's License and state auto insurance.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, especially Excel.
- Proven leadership skills, including business acumen, supervision, creativity, adaptability, interviewing & selection, observation, organization, planning, performance management, data analysis, and reporting.
- Effective communication (verbal and written).
- Strong interpersonal and team leadership skills.
- Ability to learn, retain, and apply production and procedures information.
- Able to perform basic computer skills, including strong working knowledge of Excel.
- Able to do basic math calculations.
- Able to lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Able to be on call on a rotating basis during weekends and holidays.
Qualifications
- High School or GED required.
- Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Education in retail management or similar concentration preferred.
