What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain backend microservices using TypeScript (Node.js/NestJS) in an event-driven architecture
- Build and support integrations that ingest, enrich, and distribute patient data from external EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
- Work with healthcare data standards such as FHIR R4 and platforms like Aidbox FHIR Server
- Design and implement APIs leveraging REST, SMART on FHIR, OAuth 2.0, and OpenID Connect
- Write and optimize PostgreSQL queries, schemas, and data models
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and ArgoCD on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and agile ceremonies (Scrum / SAFe)
- Monitor system performance with tools like Datadog and support troubleshooting in production
- Collaborate with Product, QA, and Architecture teams to deliver features supporting clinical data workflows
Basic Requirements
- Degree or equivalent and typically requires 2+ years of relevant experience
- Foundational experience with JavaScript or TypeScript, particularly in backend or API development
- Understanding of REST APIs, relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred), and distributed/event-driven systems
- Experience working in a team-based, agile development environment
- Familiarity with Git version control and Linux/containerized environments
- Strong communication skills and willingness to learn in a collaborative setting
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience with NestJS, Kafka, or Kubernetes
- Exposure to healthcare interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7, X12, NCPDP)
- Familiarity with EHR integrations and healthcare data environments
- Exposure to frontend frameworks (React or Angular) for occasional UI contributions
- Experience working in corporate or large-scale development environments
- Basic familiarity with AI-assisted development tools or code generation tools
- Knowledge of HIPAA/PHI handling and compliance standards
- Experience with event-driven or CQRS architectures
- Experience in Agile or Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) practices
Pay
$86,600 - $144,400
