About the role

L3Harris is seeking a motivated individual to join the team as an IP Network Engineer supporting innovative network solutions. The selected candidate will work on multiple programs and initiatives as the primary contractor, collaborating with internal and external teams. This role involves working independently on projects from start to finish, including developing network designs based on user requirements, creating network diagrams using Visio, configuring network equipment, and full implementation follow-through with documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate technologies and designs in relation to the critical infrastructure and service needs for the FAA
  • Implement solutions that support the FAA’s NextGen visions and objectives
  • Serve as the escalation point from Tier 1 and Tier 2 Operations teams for problem resolution
  • Implement solutions that support customer visions and objectives
  • Participate in inter-program initiatives and discussions to resolve technical challenges
  • Create and maintain documentation and training for knowledge transfer
  • Maintain operational excellence of network systems and components to exceed customer expectations
  • Define and implement best practices for network and capacity management
  • Identify areas of opportunity for automation and network optimization
  • Routinely perform proof of concepts and service trials while documenting system integration
  • Travel as required for requirement meetings and system integration planning

Requirements

To be eligible, applicants must be pursuing a Master's Degree in Information Technology/Computer Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering with a network focus, or Computer Science with a Communications/Network Focus, or have completed their Bachelor’s degree within the last 12 months, regardless of age.

Skills

  • Knowledge of WAN/LAN, TDM, VoIP, TCP/IP, Frame Relay, ATM, and routing protocols such as OSPF, ISIS, BGP, and EIGRP
  • Familiarity with DWDM, CTI, VPN technologies, signaling protocols, TDM framing/timing, IP-based networks, and SONET infrastructure
  • Understanding of Optical Carrier specifications ranging from OC3 to OC192 and digital signaling from DS0 through DS3
  • Cisco certifications (such as CCNA and CCNP)
  • Systems administration skills

Schedule

9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days—totaling 80 hours worked—and have every other Friday off.
