CORE DUTIES
- Support Senior Design Manager in overall design and development of all knitwear and cut+sew styles in each seasonal collection
- Assist with researching knitwear inspiration to create a cohesive concept each season, reviewing emerging trends + shapes, and exploring local markets
- Partner with Senior Design Manager and PD on seasonal yarn selection and development of new concepts
- Sketch/CAD all knitwear and cut+sew styles, maintaining all sketch revisions during design process
- Maintain linesheets and design boards with updated sketches, fabrics, and design info of designated groups for all design presentations (such as weekly review meetings, proto reviews, production pass off, etc.)
- Partner with PD to maintain linesheets with updated development/timeline info (ie. dates - 1st proto received, 1st proto fit, SMS received, etc.) and notes of any delays for all meetings/weekly reviews (such as weekly review meetings, proto reviews, production pass off, etc.)
- Support with preparation for meetings by helping to gather all necessary information/materials and accurately take notes during meetings
- Partner with PD and Raw Materials to maintain well organized seasonal binders (with knitdowns/lab dips/etc.) and sample racks as a trusted design reference for each collection to ensure development efficiency and traceability
- Create detailed tech packs with accurate BOMs, ensuring all design elements and specifics of garment construction are clearly communicated and passed off to Tech Design
- Daily communication with overseas factories to ensure design intention is accurately realized and comments are clearly communicated
- Support with ensuring all designs are market-ready and all necessary information is communicated to production, sales, and merchandising
- Work closely with cross functional departments to ensure the completion of garments is executed properly from concept to production
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Highly proficient in sketching/CAD creation using Adobe Illustrator (proficiency using Procreate a plus)
- Strong eye for trend and color
- Strong ability to design within cost parameters/wearability
- Strong ability to clearly communicate silhouettes and detailed garment construction through tech pack creation and CAD
- High knowledge of design details, fabric, interior construction, and fit terminology
- Ability to translate Sales Data and apply into design range and product scope within Mumu’s brand identity
- Flexible and adaptable in a very fast-paced environment
- Able to effectively multitask and change direction as needed, to work/think independently as well as part of a team, and to maintain composure in difficult stakeholder situations
- Highly organized with excellent follow through, attention to detail, time management skills and the ability to prioritize with a sense of urgency
- Self-motivated and proactive with a positive and dependable attitude
