About the role
The Sr. Associate, Architectural Design, manages and coordinates architectural design work for newbuild, revitalization or refurbishment projects. This role requires a minimum of 5 years of design industry experience, with at least 2 years managing large scale projects. A bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture is required, with cruise ship newbuild or revitalization design experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Ensures the design intent is apparent and consistent throughout the design process.
- Applies and ensures adherence to brand & design standards, CADD & drawing standards, and contract references.
- Guides and coordinates with external architectural, interior design, and consultancy firms.
- Reviews drawings/proposals, recommends decisions, and provides innovative solutions and ideas.
- Coordinates VR/IT initiatives, operates CAVE, studies, collects, shares, compares, and analyzes statistical information.
- Supports creation and building of foundational brand-design decks and immersion decks.
- Creates reports for management, supports shop drawing review process, and conducts practicality reviews.
- Assists with cost complexity balancing and other cost control needs.
- Performs other duties as required.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years design industry experience.
- Minimum of 2 years managing large scale projects.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Interior Design required, Architecture preferred.
- Cruise ship newbuild or revitalization design experience preferred.
- Graphic design background desirable.
- Knowledge of cruise ship staterooms or crew areas preferred.
- Skills in AutoCAD, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Sketchup; Microsoft Project is nice to know.
- Effective communicator with project team and sponsors.
- Highly motivated, efficient, and organized.
- Strong ability to maintain focus.
- Ability to travel internationally or domestically 15% of the time.
- Exemplifies strong communication skills - articulate in written, oral, graphic media.

- Assists with cost complexity balancing along with other cost control needs.
- Assists and occasionally conducts practicality reviews to check that operational, risk or accessibility concerns are being considered in all aspects of design.
- Absolutely no travel required.
